House Mouse Challenge!

I was really excited to find the HM challenge blog!! And what could have made this better than getting the new HM stamps I won on ebay? I've been anxiously checking my mailbox every day and they finally arrived Saturday.

I made one card that turned out pretty cute, but I decided it wasn't ... enough ... for this challenge. So, I decided to go with the "berried" stamp. And since my mom is probably my best friend, I thought the "You're a berry good friend" sentiment would be perfect.

I was thinking about how to decorate the card, sketching in my mind, during our late dinner last night, but I hadn't decided on anything. I was very excited when I remembered that I had some patterned paper with STRAWBERRIES on it! It came in a funky little pack I've had forever, and for whatever reason - I'd kept it. My next exciting revelation -- shortly after I started scrapbooking, I was participating in recipe card exchanges. I purchased some "fruit and vegetable" buttons from Oriental Trading Company, but I stopped participating in the recipe exchange before I got a chance to use them. They were hiding in my button box. What are the odds... and YES! there were strawberry shaped buttons. I pulled out some DCWV ribbon (pre-sticky) and stamped Mom and You're a berry good friend right onto the ribbon with palette ink. I tied a little floss through the buttons and glue-dotted them in place. I wanted just one more strawberry for the card, so I found a free clip art image and printed it on red and green cardstock. I trimmed it out, used a copic to color the seeds and badabing! I used a ton of different copics to color this in, and also used my white gel pen to get some highlighting on the leaves and stems. I hope my mom likes it. (Because if you add in from the time I stamped the image at about 9pm Saturday night and all the interruptions and problems last night and all the interruptions I've had with the kiddos this morning... It's taken me about 15 hours to make this card LOL!)

Cute! The berry paper is perfect - how cool that you had some strawberry paper! (not exactly something you see every day...)
